I hope all Constitution and Liberty-loving American citizens join me in celebrating Lois Lerner’s Dreadful week! May the Obama Administration continue to crumble while we celebrate our #RedNationRising!
For those catching up, Lois Lerner, the IRS Director of the Exempt Organizations Division, had a rough week. Here are some snippets.
Tuesday – May 21, 2013
The LA Times reported Lois Lerner’s attorney notified Chairman Issa by letter that Ms. Lerner would invoke the 5th Amendment and refuse to answer questions before the House Oversight Committee investigating the IRS’ inappropriate targeting of conservative nonprofit groups on Wednesday. According to The Washington Post, also on Tuesday, True the Vote filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against the Internal Revenue Service and others over the agency’s processing of its request for tax-exempt status. In her statement, President Catherine Engelbrecht emphasized: “True the Vote is dedicated solely to promoting election integrity in our Republic…Our mission is to educate Americans on all of the rights they enjoy as voters. We do not pick winners and losers, but instead fortify the voting process so that it is fair and free. If this goal is deserving of such scrutiny, then we have serious questions that we, as a nation, must face.”
The suit names numerous defendants including Lois Lerner, Steven Miller, the former acting IRS commissioner. Republican VP candidate and House Ways and Means Committee member Paul Ryan destroys him hearing, and Trey Gowdy grills Douglas Shulman, former IRS commissioner, during an Oversight Committee hearing.
In its suit, True the Vote asks the U.S. District Court to grant its request for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, which it originally applied for in July 2010, and award damages in excess of $85,000 for what it described as unlawful conduct by the IRS.

ABC News confirms Lois Lerner has been placed on paid administrative leave. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Senior Republican member of the Finance Committee responded to ABC: “My understanding is the new acting IRS commissioner asked for Ms. Lerner’s resignation, and she refused to resign. She was then put on administrative leave instead…The IRS owes it to taxpayers to resolve her situation quickly. The agency needs to move on to fix the conditions that led to the targeting debacle. She shouldn’t be in limbo indefinitely on the taxpayers’ dime.” So, it looks like taxpayers will continue to fund her cozy lifestyle all the while expending more tax revenues on finding the truth.
And it looks like Chairman Issa (R-CA) may recall Lerner before the Committee to provide testimony. ABC reported: “’After consulting with counsel, Chairman Issa has concluded that Ms. Lerner’s Fifth Amendment assertion is no longer valid. She remains under subpoena,’ according to Frederick Hill, Communications Director for Issa, who added that the Committee is looking at recalling her for further testimony.

Ms. Lerner begins her paid “administrative leave”, funded by the taxpayers.
Will Congress strike an immunity deal? Will Lois Lerner come clean and be truthful in her next sworn testimony to Congress? Will Darrell Issa turn the reigns over to Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordan and Jason Chaffetz to get the serious interrogation under way? Will we finally see a special prosecutor appointed and a criminal investigation conducted? These and other questions must be answered. Demand the truth. Demand accountability. We are a Red Nation Rising.
