A Community College Initiative

If you are an American taxpayer in Northampton or Monroe counties who values your country, you should know that Northampton Community College has joined “The Democracy Commitment”. If your kids go there, you should know they’ve joined this. Remember…we are ssupposed to be a constitutional republic, NOT a democracy.

“Democracy”: a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. a state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges;

“Republic”: a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them; a state in which the head of government is not a monarch or other hereditary head of state.

Please note: in a democracy, we have a “supreme power”. In a Republic, we have a “supreme power that rests in the body of citizens” where the “head of government who is not a monarch”. It’s quite telling because which word have we been programmed to believe is “good”?

In which to do live currently and in which do we prefer to live? We are currently living in the first one. We were founded to be the second one. Language is EXTREMELY important here. We are NOT a democracy…not under the actual definition of the word. Of course, that word has been hijacked by political correctness and is now a “touchy feely” word. To speak out against it is to be anti-humanity. Same with “equality”. I know what it’s supposed to mean, but it doesn’t. Every person is an individual with different strengths and weaknesses. As a teacher, it’s my job to find both, expand one and help them build the other up. This “all equal” crap means what? Common core. That’s what it means. All students will be held to the same lower standard since it’s “fair” that all students can meet them. It’s not “fair” that one is smarter than the other or better than that one at math. It’s happening. Valedictorians are disappearing. Class rank? Gone. No more “honors” designations, at least at graduations. That is what happens in a “society characterized by formal quality”. I never understood how teachers could promote the values, strengths, and weaknesses of every individual student when many are so quick to shove them into the “collective” under the guise of “equality”. I still don’t.

When we come back in August and the lamenting and hand wringing commences because of lack of enrollment, please remember this…higher ed overall supports government dependency. Why? Because right now government uses the power of taxation to fund education, which lines the pockets of all involved. Higher ed promotes government dependency (our campus with “free” food stamps and “free” health insurance), promotes policies and politicians that stifle job growth (Obamacare, “tax the rich”), promotes the collective over the individual, and then questions why enrollment drops. It should. Why bother going? There are no jobs, they’re entitled to “free” stuff, the rich will pay, and, as part of this collective, who cares about them anyway?

And this is what Northampton Community College as an institution currently supports.
